Connect Walkthru to what you already use

Builders don’t switch systems; they bolt on. So Walkthru bolts on. The office keeps its Google Sheet, accounting keeps Excel, and the AI you already talk to can read and add to your punch lists. Setup is minutes, not a migration.

Updated November 2026. Everything here is live today.

First: one key for every AI tool

AI connections use one key per tool. Make it once, paste it where the steps below say. Sheets, Excel, calendar and phone connections don’t need a key.

1

Open Walkthru → Settings → Connections → Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor → New key. Name it after the tool (“ChatGPT”).

2

Copy the key. It’s shown once. Anyone with it can read and change your company’s punch lists, so treat it like a password. Revoke it on the same screen if it ever gets out.

3

Your server address is https://walkthru.build/mcp. Tools that can’t send a header take the key in the address instead: https://walkthru.build/mcp/wt_live_YOURKEY.

Google Sheets

A live sheet of every open and closed item across your projects, no add-on, no sign-in. The office sees what the super typed at the house.

1

In Walkthru: Settings → Connections → Live sheet of every project PRO. Pick New sheet or Add a tab to a sheet you have.

2

Walkthru copies one formula and opens the sheet. Paste it in cell A1: =IMPORTDATA("https://walkthru.build/api/x/…/items.csv"). That’s the whole setup. (With Sign in with Google turned on it’s one tap and no paste.)

3

Google refreshes the formula about once an hour. Sort, filter, chart and share the sheet like any other; your edits never flow back, so nobody can break the list from the sheet.

One project only? Open the project → ⋯ → Export → Google Sheets for a formula with just that project.

Going the other way, Send → Export → Bring in a list turns a spreadsheet punch list into items. Columns like Task, Room, Trade, Sub and Notes are picked up automatically.

Excel

Same live link, in Excel’s own refresh.

1

In Walkthru: Settings → Connections → Live sheet of every project PRO and copy the link under Excel. On Free, open any project → ⋯ → Export → Excel / CSV for a download instead.

2

In Excel: Data → Get Data → From Web, paste the link, OK → Load. Works in Excel for Windows and Mac, and in Excel for the web.

3

Data → Refresh All pulls the latest items. Set it to refresh on open under Query → Properties.

The downloadable punch list template (XLSX, Sheets, CSV) matches the import columns, so a list started in Excel comes into Walkthru clean.

Claude

Works in Claude on the web, the desktop app, the iPhone app, and Claude Code. Once connected, Claude can list projects, add items from a dictated walkthrough, say where a house stands, pull a sub’s link to text, and import your vendor list.

1

Claude → Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.

2

Name: Walkthru. URL: https://walkthru.build/mcp/wt_live_YOURKEY. Leave OAuth blank. Add.

3

In a chat, open the tools menu and turn Walkthru on. Then talk.

Say“Add to the Harper house: kitchen, paint, touch-up above the door casing; primary bath, tile, grout cracked at the niche.” · “Where are we on Denmark?” · “Give me the painter’s link for Harper so I can text it.”

Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http walkthru https://walkthru.build/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer wt_live_YOURKEY"

ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to Walkthru as a custom connector. It can search and read your lists in any chat and in deep research, and add or close items when you ask.

1

ChatGPT → Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → Developer mode: turn it on. (Custom connectors need it. On Business, Enterprise or Edu plans an admin may have to enable it.)

2

Back in Apps & Connectors → Create. Name: Walkthru. MCP server URL: https://walkthru.build/mcp/wt_live_YOURKEY. Authentication: No authentication. Create.

3

In a new chat, pick Walkthru under the + or tools menu, then ask.

Say“What’s still open for Harpeth Tile?” · “Mark the vanity outlet at Harper done.” · “Which project has the oldest open items?”

Microsoft Copilot

Copilot Studio agents can use Walkthru as a tool, so an agent your office builds in Teams or Microsoft 365 can answer “what’s open on the Harper house” from the real list.

1

Copilot Studio → your agent → Tools → Add a tool → Model Context Protocol.

2

Server URL: https://walkthru.build/mcp/wt_live_YOURKEY. Authentication: none. Save, then publish the agent.

Excel and Power BI in Microsoft 365 use the same live link as Excel above.

Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, Gemini CLI and other MCP clients

Anything that speaks MCP over HTTP. Add this to the client’s MCP config (mcp.json, settings.json, ~/.gemini/settings.json…):

{ "mcpServers": { "walkthru": {
    "url": "https://walkthru.build/mcp",
    "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer wt_live_YOURKEY" } } } }

Clients that can’t send headers use the key-in-URL form instead: https://walkthru.build/mcp/wt_live_YOURKEY.

Tools on the server: list_projects, create_project, get_job_site, list_items, create_item, create_items, update_item, complete_items, project_summary, get_share_link, list_subs, create_sub, import_subs, archive_project, plus search and fetch. Details in the docs.

Zapier, Make, n8n and your own code

A plain REST API: JSON in, JSON out, bearer key. Zapier’s Webhooks, Make’s HTTP module and n8n’s HTTP Request node all work with it, so “new item → Slack message” or “form submission → new item” is a ten-minute zap.

curl https://walkthru.build/api/v1/projects \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer wt_live_YOURKEY"

curl -X POST https://walkthru.build/api/v1/projects/PID/items \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer wt_live_YOURKEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"title":"Caulk tub deck","room":"Primary Bath","trade":"Tile"}'

Every route is in the API reference and the machine-readable openapi.json.

Messages, Mail, Calendar, Drive, Dropbox

These need no setup at all; they’re what your phone already does.

Why this matters

Adopting software on a jobsite fails on the first week, not the first month, and it fails on the retrofit: re-typing the vendor list, teaching the office a new report, pulling supers off the spreadsheet they trust. Walkthru skips the retrofit. The list runs where you already look, so there’s nothing to abandon if a crew doesn’t take to it, and nothing to export if they do.
