Punch lists in Spanish for your subs

A lot of the crews fixing your punch items read Spanish first. Here is how to get them the list in words they use on the job.

Updated October 2026, by the Walkthru team in Nashville

The short version

In Walkthru, you type items in English the way you always do. Each sub gets a text with a link to just their items. If their phone is set to Spanish, the page opens in Spanish, items included, and there is an English / Español switch at the top. Under every translated item, the original English is shown in small type, so nobody argues about what it said.

Why plain machine translation gets punch lists wrong

Generic translators were trained on books and websites, not jobsites. They turn nail pops into fingernails, vanity into vanity (the vice), and door casing into a phone case. Walkthru swaps in the words crews actually use before and after translating:

EnglishGeneric translatorWalkthru
Nail pops by the windowEstallidos de uñas por la ventanaClavos botados junto a la ventana
Outlet dead by vanityOutlet muerto por vanidadContacto sin corriente por mueble del lavabo
Touch-up above door casingRetoque sobre la carcasa de la puertaRetoque sobre chambrana
Caulk missing at tub deckFalta masilla en la cubierta de la bañeraFalta sellador en el borde de la tina
Baseboard gap at cornerHueco del zócalo en la esquinaHueco del zoclo en la esquina

Rooms and trades come from a fixed list (Cocina, Baño principal, Tablaroca, Plomería, Azulejo…), so they are always right. Every phrase is translated once and remembered, so the page opens instantly the next time.

What the sub sees

Questions

Can I send a punch list to my subcontractor in Spanish?

Yes. In Walkthru the sub page follows the phone’s language and translates each item into jobsite Spanish, with the English underneath. The sub can switch between English and Español at the top.

Do I have to type the items in Spanish?

No. Type them in English the way you normally would. Walkthru translates them for the sub.

Does the translation understand construction terms?

It uses a construction glossary (tablaroca, zoclo, chambrana, contacto, regadera, tina, boquilla, clavos botados) so items read the way crews talk, not word for word.

Does my sub need the app?

No. They get a text with a link. It opens in the phone’s browser, with no account or password.
